Green Open Homes events come to Truro

Have you been considering installing a log burner but wanted to get some first-hand advice and a recommendation from someone whose opinion you trust first? Have you thought about making the most of the Cornish sunshine by installing a solar hot water or PV system but wanted an independent account of how much energy and money it would really save you? Have you been putting off making important improvements like insulation or a new heating system but didn’t know where to start?

Local community energy group Truro Eco Energy (TREE) is organising a series of Green Open Homes events on May 29th and 30th, funded by the Centre for Sustainable Energy, which will open the doors of households from across the City who have made renewable energy, energy efficiency and other green lifestyle improvements.

Building on the success of Green Open Homes events in other parts of the country, TREE is working with local partners to deliver Truro’s first Green Open Homes event. Through Truro Green Open Homes TREE are making a range of properties featuring different low-carbon improvements, large and small, available to view by interested local people keen to see measures currently saving and generating energy in Cornish homes.

Former Mayor of Truro, and current TREE Chair, Lindsay Southcombe, said, “The event will provide a great showcase for many simple and affordable changes that can help the people of Truro save money and reduce their carbon footprint. We know lots of people are interested in making low-carbon changes to their homes but could be put off by pushy sales patter or simply need more information about the options out there; by speaking to someone who has ‘been there and done it’, local people can get a better understanding of the benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy measures and ask questions about any challenges or hurdles that hosts might have experienced along the way.”

Tickets for Truro Green Open Homes are free but must be pre-booked using their online booking system.
