Record Year for Cornwall’s Home Improvement & Self Build Show

On Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd October the Cornwall Home Improvement & Self Build Show opened its doors to a record 3500 visitors, topping the number of attendees since the launch of the show in October 2015.

The event, sponsored by Duke Stone of Cornwall, is building up to be the county’s premier autumn interiors, gardens, renewables and self-build show. It brought together 112 local exhibitors to the Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge who supplied an extensive range of home related products and services all conveniently held under one roof, including: oak frames and architecture, planning , construction, renewable energy suppliers, kitchens, wood burning stoves, flooring, windows, joinery, interior design and a range of high quality furniture.

Many attendees where in process of buying a new home, renovating, extending or working on home improvements and self-build projects. By attending the show it enabled many to meet and discuss their ideas with the designers, makers and suppliers on a one to one basis. Focussed visitors booked ‘Meet the Expert’ appointment while others attended free live seminars which were held throughout the two days. Seminars offered useful insights into renewable energy, smart home technology, considering biodiversity within construction, a guide to the latest technology in the heating and fireplace industry, how to position your chimneys and planning permission.

A Bite of Cornwall Food & Drink Market & Café yet again proved to be a huge hit with visitors, the option to sample and purchase some of Cornwall’s finest artisan food and drink including: cheese, charcuterie, spices, preserves and much more proved extremely popular with attendees not to mention the fully licenced bar which gave visitors a taste of local gin, ale, craft beer and farm ciders produced by well-established local companies. The Café was buzzing all day and some fantastic food was available, including a lobster and bream goan curry, Middle Eastern vegetarian mezze plates and of course the traditional Cornish pasty.

Marketing Manager Katie Parcell said: “We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from visitors and local companies, the event is in its second year and we couldn’t have wished for a better turnout! We would like to thank all 112 exhibitors who made a fantastic effort in dressing there stands, as well as thanking all visitors who gave very encouraging and positive feedback and have continued to buy from local suppliers, designers and makers.”

The show was supported by media partners Cornwall Living & Pirate FM.
